Popularly known as the LAGQ, these four virtuosi bring a new energy to the concert stage with their eclectic programmes and dynamic musical interplay. Their inventive, critically acclaimed transcriptions of concert repertoire provide a fresh look at the music of the past, while their interpretations of works from the contemporary and world music realms continually break new ground. The LAGQ has set new standards for the guitar quartet medium. They joined Sony Classical in 1998 with their debut album LAGQ (SK 60274), which remained in the top 15 in the Billboard Classical-Crossover charts for 6 months. Scheduled for release in March 2000 is their second album for the label, Air and Ground (SK 89100). The LAGQ has appeared at Lincoln Center, in its prestigious guitar and chamber music series, and at Pasadena's Ambassador Auditorium, Chicago's Orchestra Hall, and Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall, as well as at the Hong Kong, Singapore and Istanbul International Arts Festivals. The 1997-8 season took them on a tour of the United States that included appearances in Fort Worth, Austin, Naples, Richmond, Philadelphia, Amherst, Toronto, Chicago, Jacksonville, and Nashville, as well as on extensive tours of Europe and Asia. They were also guests on Minnesota Public Radio's "St. Paul Sunday Morning" and were featured soloists in a performance with the Boston Pops (that was broadcast nationally on PBS's "Evening at Pops"). The LAGQ was also featured on NBC's "Today Show" and appeared on A&E Network's "Breakfast with the Artist". The current season takes them on a tour of cities in the United States, including Baltimore, St Louis, Seattle, Louisville, Boston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, and Kansas City. Internationally they will appear in Montreal, Munich, Berlin, Paris, Singapore, and Manilla, and take their third tour of Japan.
